About two months ago I have won a Phillips Ambilight big-screen TV on a contest. More exactly, it’s a 49 inch 4K Smart TV. If I would have to describe it in one word, that would be “breathtaking”. I will write a full review about my TV in the near future. Today I want to tell you a few things about another fascinating big-screen 4K TV: Sony Bravia KD49XF8096. Sony, Samsung, LG, Philips, Panasonic… In 2019, the brand doesn’t matter so much anymore, because all of the high-end models have similar specs and there is no big difference between them (except for the price, maybe).
Let’s talk in particular about this Sony model. First of all, it’s huge! The 49 inch display is big and amazing! Just like any other high-end/specs model, the aluminum bezels are very thin and they give the TV a stylish and exquisite aspect. I have mounted mine on the wall and that’s exactly what I’m suggesting you to do if/when you are going to buy this TV. It’s different and it’s great! As I said, thin and black bezels, huge screen mounted on the wall = perfect combination.
After you turn it on and configure everything there is to be configured… WOW! For a few moments you won’t be able to move. Literally! At least, that’s what happened to me! The feeling is priceless and pretty much indescribable. The image quality is magnificent. It’s like you are looking on the window. And I’m talking about full HD content. When it comes to 4K videos, everything is from a different planet. I have no words to describe it to you. You have to be in front of this TV, watching some 4K content in order to know what I’m talking about. Crystal clear is not even close to describe the real feeling.
And that’s not all. I have streamed videos (4K videos) from my computer to the TV via HDMI. If you have a Blu-ray player and a 4K Blu-ray movie, everything is even better. But, unfortunately for me, I haven’t tried that until now because I don’t have a Blu-ray player. Like any other respectable TV in this price range, Sony Bravia KD49XF8096 features HDR, which gives extra quality to the image. Some of us may not actually percept that extra quality. Nevertheless, HDR is there.
There is no point in telling you all the image and sound features. It’s a big line of letters and numbers. But let me tell you something about the sound, as well. I don’t know what you expect from a TV, but this model delivers rich and deep sounds. The base is present, although it is not something to write home about. It has 2×10 W speakers. If you consider the sound being modest, you can always attach a 7.1 external sound system. Problem solved!
It doesn’t have an integrated camera, but it has voice remote control. You can either use the classic remote control to surf the web or you can use voice commands. It’s up to you…
If you want to watch 4K 60 Hz videos via the HDMI cable, you have to buy a 2.0 version HDMI cable. If you have a 1.4v HDMI cable (just like me), you’ll be able to stream videos at 30 Hz only. Long story short, buy this cable for immersive and god-like video quality.
I’m not going to continue with details that most of us don’t understand/care. There’s only a few things you have to know about the Sony Bravia KD49XF8096 TV:
- simple and beautiful design;
- fascinating, breathtaking, outstanding image quality;
- above average sound quality;
- lots of connectors (HDMI, USB 3.0, RJ-45, wireless etc.);
- voice remote control;
- android 7.0;
- 4K HDR and the list can continue…
