My mom has a 2011 Dell office laptop. A few days ago told me that it started to be glitchy and her entire experience is not that great went it comes to speed and loading times. I stopped by her place and I found the problem. Indeed, everything was visibly slower and I decided to do something bold. No, I didn’t get her a new laptop because now you can rejuvenate a laptop/desktop. You’re probably wondering how… I will tell you in the next paragraph.
So I decided to buy an SSD, the Crucial MX500 CT500MX500SSD1(Z) model and replace it with the old HDD. I’m sure you have heard about these amazing pieces of technology. If you didn’t, I will tell you more in this article. Believe me, is the only PC/laptop part that generally impressed me ever since they were invented. That’s because they can literally rejuvenate a PC. A few years ago, I would’ve bought a new laptop for my mom. But not today! That’s because someone decided to invent the SSDs and everything is way better! This model has a 500 GB capacity, more than enough for my mom to surf on Facebook, checking her e-mails and watching some movies (from time to time).
I decided to remove the old HDD for good and replace it with the new SSD (solid-state drive). If you want to do the same thing but you have important data on your HDD and you can’t afford to lose it, you can get rid of your optical drive (CD-ROM). Now and in the future you won’t need that anymore. If you want to reinstall your operating system you can use a flash drive (USB stick). So you can safely remove your CD-ROM and replace it with a brand-new super powerful SSD.
Having a solid-state drive inside of your desktop/laptop will make a big difference. First, your PC will be way more faster. When I have first seen this, I almost couldn’t believe it. I have installed an SSD inside of my desktop and Windows 8.1 installed itself in 7.5 min. That’s something to write home about! When I finished installing all of my drivers and software, I have pressed the restart button. My desktop came back to life in about 8.5 seconds, which was extremely impressive at that time. As a matter of fact, that’s pretty impressive even in 2018.
Another great advantage of the SSDs is that nothing is spinning inside of them anymore, which makes them extremely silent. Fun fact… After having my first SSD, I forgot to turn off my computer many times, because I couldn’t hear it and I thought it’s turned off. And the last Pro when it comes to an SSD is the overall experience, which is breathtaking. So, if you want your laptop/desktop to feel young again, don’t hesitate to buy the Crucial MX500 CT500MX500SSD1(Z) model or any other one. It’s a great investment and you won’t regret it one second!
